THE STORY

DRAWING CONCLUSIONS
------------------------

An old man was sitting with his 25 year old son in the train. The train was about to leave the station. All passengers are settling down in their seat.

As the train started, the young man was filled with lots of joy and curiosity. He was sitting on the window side.

He put out one hand and feeling the passing air, he shouted, "Papa see all the trees are going behind". the old man smiled and admired his sons’ feelings.

Besides the young man was one couple, sitting and listening to all the conversation between father and son. They were little awkward with the attitude of the 25 year old behaving like a small child.

Suddenly the young man again shouted, "Papa see the pond and animals. Clouds are moving with the train".

The couple was watching the young man embarrassingly. Now it started raining and some of the water drops touched the young man's hand. He was filled with joy and he closed his eyes. He shouted again," Papa it's raining, the water is touching me, see papa".

The couple couldn't help themselves and asked the old man. "Why don't you visit the Doctor and get treatment for your son."

The old man said, "Yes, We are coming from the hospital today, my son got his eye sight for first time in his life."

Moral: "Do not draw conclusions until you know all the facts."

SUNNAH,
(PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)

Anas bin Maalik Radiyallahu 'Anhu says that the ring of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was made of silver and the gem stone was from Abyssinia. [TIRMITHI]

Commentary
According to the majority of the 'ulama  it is permissible to wear a ring made made of silver. Some jurists say it is not permissible to wear a ring made of bronze. iron, steel etc. In the early stages, Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not have a ring made, until it was known that the kings of Persia and other countries did not accept or take into consideration letters that had no seal (stamp) on them. He had begun sending letters to the kings inviting thern to Islaam. A seal (stamp) was made in the sixth or seventh year Hijri.

The 'ulama give different opinions on the wearing of the ring. Some 'ulama say that it is Makruh (undesireable) for any person besides the king and judge to wear a ring. The research of the 'ulama (may Allah increase their number and accept their efforts) in this matter, according to the saying of 'Shaami' is, that it is Sunnah for the kings, judges, trustees and those who need a seal. Besides them it is permissible for others, but better not to use it. The reason is evident that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam only made one when it became necessary, before he began sending letters to the kings.

Abu Daawud and others have stated that besides the kings, others are prohibited from wearing a ring. Since it has been proven that many Sahaabah Radiyallahu 'Anhum wore a ring in the presence of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, and in other ahaadith that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam had permitted it, this prohibition will be taken as that which is contrary to a more meritorious and desired act.

THE SMILE

My short travel story involves my oldest daughter, who at the time was probably three years old. Our family travels from our home in the South to the North each summer for a wonderful family gathering at a small little resort about eight hours away. Her older brother had reached the age where he was beginning to understand that traveling involved passing through towns, cities, and even states. Just as many kids ask the question, "are we almost there yet?", he continually asked questions like, "What city are we in now?", and "are we in Minnesota yet?" On the way home from our vacation, when the kids were hitting that point of being quite bored and restless, our daughter asked "Daddy, are we in our world yet?"
