Muslim’s Position Towards Western Civilization
by Imâm al-Madîna al-Munawarrah Salâh al-Budayr

All praise is due to Allâh. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his household and companions.

Brothers in faith! Fear Allâh, for that is the best earning and obey Him. Be dutiful to Allâh and hope for the reward on the Last Day and commit no mischief on the earth.

“O you who believe! Fear Allâh as He should be feared and die not except in the state of Islâm.” (آl ‘Imrân: 102)

Fellow Muslims! We are nowadays confronted with a relentless war waged by the materialistic western civilization and culture that burns its producers and afflicts them with calamities, misery, immorality, disruption, suicide and all kinds of evils. It is in fact, a civilization that turns their conducts upside down, disorganizes their affairs, exposes them to toil and corrupts their minds. It is a civilization that knows no difference between lawful and unlawful, useful and harmful. It is full of useless markets, clubs and vacant minds! A civilization that is incapable of protecting individuals’ honour nor capable of providing them with meaningful sense of happiness in their life. Such is the reward of those who turn away from the Lord of all the worlds. Theirs is a civilization that is destroyed by its own products. It is a civilization that races towards creating all means of trouble, disturbance and destruction. Allâh says what translates as,

“They destroy not but their own selves, yet they perceive (it) not.” (Al-An‘âm: 26)

He also says what translates as, “Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle nay, they are even farther astray from the path (i.e. even worse than cattle).” (Al-Furqân: 43)

He also says what translates as: “They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world and they are headless of the Hereafter.” (Ar-Rûm: 7)

1 big onion chopped
¾ cup ghee or oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
5 Cardamom Pods
5 Whole black peppercorns
3 Pieces cinnamon bark
1 chicken,, washed and disjointed
2 cups chopped tomatoes
3 cups carrots, cut into strips
¼ cup roughly ground coriander seeds
1 Tbsp pounded fresh ginger
1 tsp crushed garlic
2 ground or chopped green chillies
4 ½ tsp salt
3 ½ cups basmati rice, washed
1 cup cokked chick peas
¼ cup ghee
3 Tbsp pine kernels
2 Tbsp chopped Almonds
2 Tbsp sultanas

Method:
Place onions, ghee, cumin, cardamom, pepper and cinnamon in a pot and braise until onions turn light brown. Add the meat and ¼ cup water. Cook over medium heat and braise for a few minutes. Add the tomatoes, carrots, coriander, ginger, garlic, and chillies, then cook for 5-7 minutes, or until a thick gravy forms. Pour over the boiling water, add salt and bring to a rapid boil. Add the rice and stir well. Close tightly with lid and cook over medium heat until water burns out, about 5-10 minutes. Reduce heat and steam until cooked. Add the click – peas to the rice and toss well. Place the ghee, pine kernels and almonds in a pan. Fry over heat until almonds have browned lightly. Add the raisins and stir until puffed up, hen pour over the rice and stir lightly. Serve with spiced yoghurt.

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink.

She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"

Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma? You must have been a very very bad girl. Grandma's hairs are ALL white?"
