SALLALLAHU ALYHI WA SALLAM |
Jundub
bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger
of Allah (Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam) said, "He who
performs the Fajr (dawn) prayer comes under the Protection
of Allah, so beware lest Allah questions you about what
you owe Him. For if He questions anyone of you and he falls
short of fulfilling the duty which he owes Him, He will
requite and then throw upon his face into the Hell-fire".

Commentary: A Muslim who performs Fajr
prayer receives the protection of Allah. But he who does
not fall short of fulfilling the duty which he owes to Allah.
It also serves a warning in case of not observing such duty,
Allah will demand failing to it. If He does, Hell will be
the requital. This highlights the merit of performing the
Fajr prayer with congregation, while the second warns a
Muslim that since he has started that day by a pledge with
Allah, he must keep it for the full day and abstain from
doing anything which goes against it.

| RECIPE |
| Saffron
Rice Moulds
Ingredients:
2
Cups Basmati Rice
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 Tablespoon corn oil,plu more for the moulds
2 Black cardamom pods
Large pinch of black cumin seeds
6 Black peppercorns
2 Cloves
Salt
1/2 Teaspoon saffron threads
2 Tablespoons sultanas
1 Tablespoon flaked almonds
Method:
1)
Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.Leave
it to soak in fresh water while preparing the rest of the
ingredients.
2) In a large heavy based saucepan,heat the oils together
over moderate heat for about 30 seconds,then add the cardomom
pods,cumin seeds,peppercorns,cloves and salt to taste.Lower
the heat and stir.
3) Drain the rice ,add to the pan and stir gently.Add the
saffron ,sultanas,almonds and 3 cups of water.Bring to the
boil,lower the heat,cover and cook for 10-15 minutes,until
the water is fully absorbed and the rice is tender.Let stand,off
the heat,still covered,for 5-7 minutes.
4) While the rice is cooking,preheat the oven to 190 degrees
and lightly grease 4 ramekins with corn oil.Press the rice
into them and warm through in the oven for about 5-10 minutes.
5) Carefully unmould the rice to serve. |

| THE SMILE |
PAYMENT
for the WINDOWS
--------------------------
Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that
expensive double-pane energy-efficient kind, and today,
I got a call from the contractor who installed them.
He
was complaining that the work had been completed a whole
year ago and I still hadn't paid for them. So, I told him
just what his fast talking sales guy had told me last year,
that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves!
Like
Helllooooo? It's been a year! I told him.
There
was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally
just hung up.
He
never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot!
