Surah
Al-Qiyamah 75: - (The Resurrection)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
and
many faces, that day, will be gloomy, [24]
realizing that a back-breaking calamity is going to be inflicted
on them. [25]
Never! (think that you will remain in this world forever)
When the soul (of a patient) reaches the clavicles, [26]
COMMENTARY:
(When the soul [of a patient] reaches the clavicles, and it
is said, "Who is an enchanter [that can save him?]",
and he realizes that it is [the time of] departure [from the
world,] and one shank is intertwined with the other shank,
then on that day, it is to your Lord that one has to be driven.
[75:26-30]
In
the preceding verses, reckoning on the Day of Reckoning and
conditions of the inmates of Paradise and Hell were described.
In these verses, man's attention is drawn to his approaching
death, which he should not neglect. He should embrace the
faith and do deeds of righteousness before death overtakes
him, so that he may attain salvation in the Hereafter.
The
above verse depicts the scene of death. The unmindful man
forgets his death until his soul comes up to his collar-bone
[throat]. The healers fail to heal him, and the people look
for enchanters to save him. When one shank is entwined with
the other, he realizes that it is the final moments of his
parting. At this juncture neither is his repentance acceptable
nor a righteous deed. Therefore, it is necessary for a wise
person to make amends before this moment arrives.

| THE MESSAGE |
THE
URGE TO SIN

Moulānā Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sāheb (Dāmat Barakātuhum)

Allâh has exhorted man to curb the urge to sin. Man has
to obey Allâh and become His servant because Allâh has created
man. This indicates that the urge to sin is essential. That
is why He is commanding us to prevent the Nafs. Had there
been no urge to sin, Taqwâ (piety) would not have existed
because Taqwâ means to subdue the urge of the Nafs to sin
and to endure the grief that follows.
The
Greatness of the Grief of Allah’s Path - Allâh is reached
by this grief. But how regretful it is that man is prepared
to endure the grief of the entire world, but he hesitates
and fears undergoing the grief of Allah’s path. The grief
of Allah’s path is so honoured that if all the crowns and
thrones of the kings of the world are placed in one pan
of the scale together with the beauty and love of all the
lovers of the world, the entire wealth of the world and
all the delicacies of the world cannot equal one atom of
the grief of Allah’s path. How aptly Allâmah Sayyid Sulaimân
Nadwi (Rahimahullâh) has said,
When
I obtain the wealth of Your grief
I become independent of the grief of both the worlds.
The
grief of Allah’s love and the grief of abstaining from sin
is better than the whole world. You can attain Jannah (paradise)
by this grief. This is the grief that brings one into close
proximity to Allah, makes one a waliullâh, keeps one at
ease in this world and makes one reach Jannah. Who can pay
the price of this grief? If all the joys of this world present
a guard of honour to the grief of Allah’s path, they cannot
fulfil the rights of this grief.
My
crown is hidden in the lap of poverty.
One atom of Your grief is not less than both the worlds.
Allâh
is not so oppressive so as to neglect the one who undergoes
so much pain and worry by not committing sin. Allâh is most
merciful. Today the people can mock and jest but on the
day of Qiyâmah, Allâh will not mock at me.
Similarly,
Allah’s servant had a habit of listening to music. Now he
has abandoned it and undergone the grief of abstention.
But who can fulfil the right of the honour of this grief?

The
World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised its pandemic alert
for swine flu to the second highest level, warning that "all
countries should immediately now activate their pandemic preparedness
plans".
Barack
Obama has reiterated his belief that he considers the waterboarding

first 100 days in office.
The
US economy shrunk by 6.1 per cent in the first quarter of

White

------------
1 kg mangoes - ¼ cup chopped green chillies - 2 Tbsp pounded
garlic - 2 Tbsp pounded ginger - 1 Tbsp coarsely ground
dry coriander - 1 Tbsp coarsely ground methi - 1 Tbsp coarsely
ground mustard - 1 Tbsp coarsely ground jeero - 1 Tbsp whole
mustard - ½ Tbsp fine mustard - 1 cup white vinegar - 1
cup bottle oil - 4 whole green chillies (slit).
Wash
cut and peel mangoes. Add 4 whole green chillies and salt
to taste.
Add
vinegar. Fry garlic and ginger in oil till it changes a
very delicate pink in colour then add the rest of ingredients
after taking pan off from the stove and when whole mustard
starts spluttering, add it over mangoes.
When
cool, mix mustard powder in a little water and mix paste,
then add it to mangoes. Bottle tightly.

| HANDY HINT |
Maintain
healthy soil. The use of compost goes hand in hand with
maintaining healthy soil, but there are other things to
consider.
Try to avoid walking on the soil in established gardens,
because every step compacts the soil, and compaction makes
it difficult for roots to grow. Create paths between rows
or in beds, or place a board on the soil adjacent to areas
where you work to distribute your weight more evenly over
the soil.
