Surah
Al-Qiyamah 75: - (The Resurrection)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
(0
Prophet,) do not move your tongue (during revelation) for
(reciting) it (the Qur'an) so as you receive it in hurry.
[16]
It is surely undertaken by Us to store it (in your heart),
and to let it be recited (by you after revelation is completed).
[17]
Therefore, when it is recited by Us (through the angel), follow
its recitation (by concentration of your heart). [18]
COMMENTARY:
Thus far, there was the description of the conditions and
horrors of the Day of Resurrection. The next four verses are
a special guidance for the Messenger Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam
to be followed by him at the time of revelation. When Jibraeel
AS descended with a set of verses, the Holy Prophet Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam feared that there might be some discrepancy
in his listening and reciting it accordingly.
His
other fear was that he might forget some portion of it, or
some word might escape his memory. As a result, when Jibraeel
AS recited a verse, he would exert himself in repeating the
words immediately upon hearing them. In this manner, the strain
would be multiplied. Allah revealed four verses in which he
is advised not to exert himself so strenuously, because the
matter has been simplified for him. Allah has taken upon Himself
the responsibility of collecting it in his heart, making him
recite it and conveying it to the people, thus: “([0 Prophet,]
do not move your tongue [during revelation] for[reciting]
it [the Qur'an] so as you receive it in hurry. It is surely
undertaken by Us to store it [in your heart], and to let it
be recited [by you after revelation is completed].”
Therefore,
when it is recited by Us [through the angel], follow its recitation
[by concentration of your heart]... 75: 16-18).

THE MESSAGE |
THE
SUN: Never Ceases nor Disappears
by Zaghlul El-Naggar
-----------------------
Ibn Abbas RA narrated that the Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa
Sallam was asked,
"Where
does the sun set, and where does it rise from? The Messenger
of Allah Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam answered, "It is
going in a (nonstop) regular motion; it does not cease or
disappears. If sets in one place and rises in another, and
sets in another place and rises elsewhere and so on. So, some
people would say the sun has set and others would say it has
just risen (at the same moment). (al-Hamdaani)
The
Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam means that it does not
disappear anywhere as they thought that it sets in a certain
location, and rises again from that place.
There
is a continuous alternate sunrise and sunset on earth. This
could only take place if the earth is spherical or spheroid,
and is, at the same time, continuously rotating around its
axis facing the sun. This motion pattern leads to the continuous
alternation of day once night on its surface, until life on
earth comes to an end, i.e. until the Day of Resurrection.
The
Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam talked about
all these cosmic facts in such accurate scientific style at
a period of time when people thought that the earth was flat
and stationary. This is definitely one of the signs, which
testifies to the truthfulness of the Message of Muhammad Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam. For sure, no one in the Arabian Peninsula
at the time of revelation, and for centuries to follow realized
the fact that the earth is spherical and that it rotates around
its axis facing the sun. Needless to say that at that time,
no one was able to perceive the real or the apparent motion
of the moon; the sun and other celestial bodies as Arabia
was but a simple and primitive environment.
All
of the above facts mentioned and those in the Qur'an have
urged early Muslims, at the time of the Abbasi~ Caliph ali-Mamun,
to measure the circumference of the earth very accurately.
Their motive was the firm belief that the earth is spherical
and that it rotates around its axis facing the sun. Moreover,
the Muslim scholar and scientist "al-Bayyruny" divided
the earth into lines of longitude and latitude, in his book:
"tahdid nihayat al-Amakin" which he wrote in 416
A.H (about 1040 A.C.).
The
source of all this knowledge is the illuminating signs that
are mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam, and each of them testifies to the truthfullness
and the Divine nature of the Message of the last of the Prophets
and Messengers. This accurate scientific knowledge could not
be obtained except for a Divine Revelation. |

RECIPE |
Dockra
Semolina Savoury tea-time treat
-------
To
make: Let’s do this in steps
Step
1:
Line the base of your springform tin with foil. Rub oil on
it. Put back into tin, and secure the sides.
Step
2:
Put a large pot filled with ¼ boiling water on the stove.
In this, invert a dish or a bowl, that fits in perfectly.
Cover your lid with a dishcloth (so, put the dish cloth under,
and bring out of the lid).
Step3:
Prepare the mixture. And work really quick!
In
a bowl combine the following and work in the oil:
1 cup Semolina - 1 tblsp chana flour - 2 tblspn oil.
To
this add:
1 tsp ground ginger - 1 tblspn ground green chillies - 1 tsp
salt - 1 tsp sugar - 1 tblsn lemon juice.
Then
proceed by adding:
1 and ½ cups of maas (sour milk) - ½ cup cream-style sweetcorn
+ frozen corn (a few kernels worth).
Mix
well. Then water should be bulbing on the stove.
Finally,
add in:
1 tsp baking powder - a pinch (teeny) of bicarb and - 1 sachet
of regular Eno.
Mix
well, mix quick!
Pour
into the prepared tin, pop onto the inverted bowl and cover
with dish- clothed lid.
Set your timer to 14 minutes. Do not, I said do not...Open
the lid!
When
the 14 minutes are done, remove from the heat, and allow to
cool in the pot, with the lid now off.
Prepared
the topping:
Add 2 tblspns of oil to a pan. Toss in 1 tsp sesame seeds
+ 1 tsp back mustard seeds. Let pop, spoon over the completed
dokra. Chopped up the fresh coriander, and release the sides
of the tin. Oil a knife if you find it easier to cut with.
Cut, nibble on the side bits (‘oorskeets!’) and serve with
a hot cup of tea!
Ah,
mum would be proud! |

A THOUGHT |
MEDIOCRITY
--------------
The simple but true fact of life is that you become like
those with whom you closely associate for the good and the
bad. The less you associate with some people, the more your
life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others,
it increases your mediocrity.

THE SMILE |
FASTEN
EIGHT
--------------
A
grade school teacher asked her students to use the word fascinate"
in a sentence.
Molly
put up her hand and said, "My
family went to my granddad's farm, and we all saw his pet
sheep. It was fascinating."
The
teacher said, "That was good, but I wanted you to use
the word fascinate, not fascinating".
Sally
raised her hand. She said, "My family went on a picnic
and I was fascinated."
The
teacher said, "Well,
that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word "fascinate."
Little
Johnny raised his hand. The teacher hesitated because she
had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided
there was no way he could damage the word "fascinate",
so she called on him. Johnny said,
"My
uncle has a sweater with ten buttons, but his tummy is so
big he can only "fasten eight" |
