SURAH
AD-DAHR: 76 - (The Time)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
...
to put him to a test, so We made him able to hear, able to
see. [2]
We have shown him the way to (let him) become either grateful
or ungrateful. [3]
COMMENTARY:
The Arabic verb is derived from Ibtila' which means 'to put
to test'. This phrase puts forward the Wisdom underlying human
creation. Allah has created man to put him to a test. This
test is defined in forthcoming verses. Allah sent Prophets
and celestial Books for the purpose of showing him both ways,
one leading to Paradise, and the other to Hell. Man has been
given a choice to adopt anyone of the two ways. This led mankind
into two groups, thus: (We have shown him the way to (let
him) become either grateful or ungratefuL.. 76:3). The first
group was of those who, appreciating Allah's bounties, offered
gratitude to Allah, and believed in Him, while the second
group was of those who remained ungrateful to Allah's favours,
disbelieved.

BEST
TIMES TO MAKE DUAA
--------------------------
There are certain times dua (supplication) is more likely
to be accepted by Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) as mentioned
by Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam). These times are as
follows:
1. THE LAST THIRD OF THE NIGHT
Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that Allah's Messenger
(salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: 'In the last third of every
night our Rabb (Cherisher and Sustainer) (Allah (Subhanahu
wa Ta'ala)) descends to the lowermost heaven and says; "Who
is calling Me, so that I may answer him? Who is asking Me
so that may I grant him? Who is seeking forgiveness from Me
so that I may forgive him?."' [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith
Qudsi]
Amr
ibn Absah narrated that the Prophet said: 'The closest any
worshipper can be to His Lord is during the last part of the
night, so if you can be amongst those who remember Allah at
that time, then do so.' [at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa'i, al-Hakim
- Sahih]
2. LATE AT NIGHT
When people are sleeping and busy with worldly pleasures Allah
(Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) gives the believers an opportunity,
or an answer hour if they can fight sleep and invoke Allah
(Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) for whatever they need.
The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: 'There is at
night an hour, no Muslim happens to be asking Allah any matter
of this world or the Hereafter, except that he will be given
it, and this (occurs) every night.' [Muslim #757]

| A THOUGHT |
HASTE
------
One day, in the pride of youth, I had travelled hard and arrived
perfectly exhausted in the evening at the foot of an acclivity.
A weak old man, who had likewise been following the caravan,
came and asked me why I was sleeping, this not being the place
for it. I replied: 'How am I to travel, having lost the use
of my feet?' He said: 'Hast thou not heard that it is better
to walk gently and to halt now and then than to run and to
become exhausted?'
O
thou who desirest to reach the station
Take my advice and learn patience.
An Arab horse gallops twice in a race.
A camel ambles gently night and day.
