The Sri Lankan army claims to have seized the strategic town of Mallavi from Tamil Tiger forces during heavy fighting. The defence ministry described the capture of the "nerve centre" as "one more decisive and impressive phase" in its campaign to defeat the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the separatist group that has been fighting for a homeland for ethnic Tamils in the north of the country.

Pakistan has summoned the US ambassador to Islamabad in protest over a "shameful" alleged attack by US troops in South Waziristan in which women and children are reported to have been killed. The criticism is the first time Pakistan has accused its ally of an attack on its soil since the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

Syrian President Bashar Assad disclosed yesterday that his country has handed proposals for peace with Israel to Turkish mediators and would wait for Israel’s response before holding any face-to-face negotiations.

President Thabo Mbeki is expected in Harare on Monday to continue mediation efforts to break a deadlock in power-sharing talks, a Zimbabwean official said today. Hopes for a deal have been receding after President Robert Mugabe was quoted as saying he would form a government alone if the opposition failed to sign by Thursday and the opposition said it had lost faith in the talks and Mbeki's mediation.

Gauteng Social Development MEC, Kgaogelo Lekgoro, says the refugee camps that accommodate the victims of the xenophobic attacks will finally be dismantled at the end of the month. This follows a Constitutional Court ruling that stopped the government's plan to dismantle the camps last month.

555 g ( 1000 ml ) whole –wheat flour - 100 ml Vital Germ - 1 * 10 g packet of instant dry – yeast - 5 ml salt - 100 ml Vital Sunflower seeds - About 500 ml warm water - 50 ml molasses`es - 15 ml margarine.

Mix the flour, wheat germ, yeast, salt and sun flower seeds in a large mixing bowl. Whisk 250 ml of the water with the margarine and mix into the dry ingredients. Add enough of the remaining water to make a sticky batter. Spoon the batter into a greased 23 * 8 cm loaf tin. Leave in a warm place to rise for about 30 minutes until the batter rises just over the top of the tin. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 180 degree Celsius and bake for a further 20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Remove from the tin and leave to cool on a wire rack.

ONE DEPENDANT upon THE OTHER

Out of creation, one thing is guided to another according to a well arranged plan created also by Allah Ta'ala. There is no change of Allah's plan. He does not move the hand to a well-arranged writing, till He creates strength in it, till He gives it life and till He creates firm will. He does not raise up firm will untill He creates crave in mind. He does not create this crave fully till He creates knowledge or understanding whether it will conform to nature in the present or future.

He does not create this understanding without other causes which make movement of limbs, will and knowledge. So understanding and desire of mind follow firm will and strength. Will comes before movement of bodily limbs. This rule is prevalent in every action. So everything is created by Allah Ta'ala and one thing of His creation depends upon another thing. For instance, will comes after understanding, understanding comes after life, and body comes before life. So the creation of body is necessary for life but not life for body.
