HADITH/SAYINGS OF MUHAMMAD
SALLALLAHU ALYHI WA SALLAM |
Abu
Usaid Malik bin Rabi`ah As-Sa`idi (May Allah be pleased
with him) reported: We were sitting with The Messenger Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam when a man of Banu Salamah came to him and
asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Is there any obedience
to parents left that I can show to them after their death?''
He Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam replied, "Yes, to pray
for them, to supplicate for their forgiveness, to fulfill
their promises after their death, to maintain the ties of
kinship which cannot be maintained except through them,
and honour their friends.'' [Abu Dawud].
Commentary:
We learn from this Hadith that one should consider the life
of one's parents a blessing because their life provides
one with an opportunity to serve them wholeheartedly, which
is ordained by Allah. If one wants to be nice to them after
their death, one should adopt the methods mentioned in this
Hadith. What really benefits the dead as well as living,
is prayer and begging forgiveness from Allah. In this Hadith,
these have been regarded as acts of beneficence for the
deceased parents. It clearly means that the children will
be rewarded for the virtuous acts they do for their parents
and the status of the deceased parents will also be elevated
in the next world. The acceptance of the prayer in favour
of the deceased parents is also confirmed from that Hadith
also which tells that death brings to an end all the activities,
except the following:
Firstly,
an ongoing Sadaqah (Sadaqah Jariyah); like the digging of
a well, the building of a mosque, etc.,
Secondly,
knowledge which benefits Muslims;
Thirdly,
prayers of virtuous offspring.

Leaders
of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)

not be sidelined in efforts to tackle the worsening financial
turmoil. The two institutions unanimously agreed that "aid

The
president of Zimbabwe has sworn in two vice-presidents after
unilaterally appointing members of his ruling Zanu-PF party
to key cabinet posts. The move by Robert Mugabe is likely
to further jeopardise power-sharing talks that were due to
resume as Thabo Mbeki, the former South African president,
flew in to the country today to mediate.
Nuri
al-Maliki, Iraq's prime minister, has said that British troops
are no longer needed to maintain security in the south of
the country. "We thank them for the role they have played,
but I think that their stay is not necessary for maintaining
security and control," he told The Times, a London-based
newspaper, in an interview published on Monday.
Emerging powerhouses India, Brazil and South Africa have set
their trade target at 15 billion dollars by 2010, up from
around 10 billion dollars a year ago, India's foreign minister
said today. Pranab Mukherjee also said trade between the three
southern hemisphere economies was on the upswing "in
all three directions." "We have now established
a target of 15 billion dollars in trade between the three
countries by 2010," Mukherjee told a conference of editors
from India, Brazil and South Africa. "The three countries
have taken rapid strides in forging trilateral linkages in
a number of key areas including health, agriculture, education,
transport, energy, science and technology and IT," he
said.
Democratic
Alliance leader Helen Zille has called for an investigation
into claims that the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is
conducting surveillance of ANC members planning a breakaway
party. Zille said she had written to President Kgalema Motlanthe
to request that he investigate reports in the media which
suggested that the NIA was conducting surveillance of ANC
members thought to be planning a breakaway party. The Sunday
Times this week published a story citing sources within the
NIA confirming reports that a surveillance operation had been
launched to spy on ANC dissidents.

I
OFTEN THINK WHEN I MIGHT SIN
-------------------------------
I
often think when I might sin,
What if the Angel would come to me then?
Would I want to be risen doing that sin?
I often think quietly to myself,
Where will I go, oh, where will I go,
When the Angel comes to me?
What
if the Angel comes at night,
With a command from Allah to take my soul?
Where will I run, oh, where will I run?
What if the Angel comes to me when I'm driving my car?
Can I lock my doors, so the Angel can't get in?
Where will I hide, oh where will I hide?
I
often think when I might sin,
What if the Angel would come to me then?
Would I want to be risen doing that sin?
I often think quietly to myself,
Where will I go, oh where will I go,
When the Angel comes to me?
What
if the Angel comes in the middle of tea?
Maybe I can plead for a later return.
How will I plead, oh, how will I plead?
What if the Angel comes to me when I'm watching TV?
Can I beg to the Angel for a little more time?
How will I beg, oh how will I beg?
I
often think when I might sin,
What if the Angel would come to me then?
Would I want to be risen doing that sin?
I often think quietly to myself,
Where will I go, oh, where will I go?
When the Angel comes to me? |

TRUE
STORY FROM A NETWIRE SYSOP
------------------------------------
Caller: "Hello, is this Tech Support?"
Tech: "Yes, it is. How may I help you?"
Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is broken and I am
within my warranty period.
How do I go about getting that fixed?"
Tech: "I'm sorry, but did you say a cup holder?"
Caller: "Yes, it's attached to the front of my computer."
Tech: "Please excuse me if I seem a bit stumped. It's
because I am.
Did you receive this as part of a promotional, at a trade
show? How did you get this cup holder? Does it have any
trademark on it?"
Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything
about a promotional.
It just has '4X' on it. “At this point the Tech Rep had
to mute the caller, because he couldn't stand it.
The
caller had been using the load drawer of the CD-ROM drive
as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive!
