AN-NABA': 78 (The Great Event)
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE BENEFICENT THE MOST MERCIFUL
We
have warned you of an approaching torment (that will be inflicted)
on a day when one will see what his hands have sent ahead,
and the disbeliever will say, "0 would that I had become
dust!" [40]
COMMENTARY:
On a day when one will see what his hands have sent ahead
78:40). Apparently, this refers to the Day of Judgement. Every
person will see his deeds with his own eyes in the Plane of
Gathering. This might happen in one of two ways:
[1]
His ledger of deeds will be given in his hands and he will
see it; or
[2] His deeds will appear in the Plane of Gathering, epitomized
in a visible shape, as certain narratives confirm this.
Still
a third possibility exists. The word 'day' may refer to 'the
day of death'. And the words 'will see' means to see in the
grave or Barzakh, as explained by Math’hari.
(And
the disbeliever will say, "0 would that I had become
dust...78:40).
Sayyadina
'Abdullah Ibn 'Umar RA reports that on the Day of Resurrection
the entire earth will become a plane surface where all human
beings, Jinn, domesticated animals and wild animals will be
gathered. If one animal had wronged another animal in the
world, it will be given the opportunity to take its revenge.
If a goat with horns had wronged a goat without horns, it
will be granted the opportunity to take its avenge. When this
phase is over, all animals will be commanded to become dust.
They will become dust. At that moment the disbelievers will
wish that they were also animals and would become dust like
them, so that they would have been spared the torment of reckoning
and punishment of Hell. We seek refuge in Allah from it! Allah
knows best!

THE
ANGELS
--------------
1. Allah has created Angels out of light and gave them various
duties to perform.
2. They are not visible to us.
3. They do not commit any sins nor do they disobey Allah.
4. They do what Allah has ordered.
5. We do not know their exact number.
6. We know of four famous Angels. They are: -
JIBRAEEL Alayhis Salaam.
MICHAEEL Alayhis Salaam.
IZRAAELL Alayhis Salaam.
ISRAFEEL Alayhis Salaam.
JIBRAEEL
(Alayhis-Salaam) brought Allah's Books, Orders and messages
to all the Prophets. He was also sent to help the Prophets
at times and fight against their enemies.
Hazrat MICHAAEEL (A.S.) is in charge of food and rain. Other
Angels work under him who are in charge of clouds, the seas,
the rivers and the winds. He gets the order from Allah.
He then orders the others under his command.
IZRAAEEL
(A.S.) takes away life with the order of Allah. He is in
charge of death. Numerous Angels work under him. Some take
away the lives of good persons whilst others looking very
fearful take away the lives of sinners and disbelievers.
ISRAAFEEL
(A.S.) will blow the SOOR (TRUMPET) on the day of judgement.
The sound will destroy and kill everything that is on earth
and in the skies. When he blows for the second time all
will come to life with the order of Allah.
There
are two Angels that are always with every person. One writes
all his GOOD DEEDS whilst the other enters all his BAD DEEDS.
They are known as: - KIRAAMAN-KAATIBEEN.
The
MUNKAR and NAKEER question a person when he dies.
Some
Angels are in charge of heaven, some of hell, some of looking
after children, the old, the weak and others whom Allah
wishes to protect.
From
the QURAN and HADITH we come to know that various other
angels are in charge of various other duties.

Critics say American leaders are confused over what war they
are fighting. This comes after Republican Presidential hopeful,
John McCain made an embarrassing remark regarding factional
fighting in Iraq. US president George Bush, has defended anti-war
sentiments in the country. Almost 160 people are in police
custody as protestors took to the streets saying the Iraq
war is a failure. The illegal invasion into Iraq enters its
sixth year this year.
The Human Rights watch has accused President Robert Mugabe’s
supporters of intimidation. The watchdog says intimidation
tactics are being used on opposition members to sway elections
in favour of President Robert Mugabe. They say this undermines
the chances of a free and fair election.
Radio Islam wins 1st position. Alhamdullilah, Radio Islam
last night won first position for our initiative in tackling
abuse and domestic violence. The event was hosted by the Serongonwane
Technologies in Johannesburg. The Serongonwanye Technology
initiated a campaign entitled the NEVer, Never again campaign
which centered on the fight against abuse. The campaign is
part of governments16 days of activism against women and child
abuse. The radio station won total prize money worth 35 000
rands. A total of 14 community radio stations across the country
participated. 79 programmes were submitted. The panel of judges
say they had a very difficult time in selecting a winner due
to the high quality of production.
SA well positioned to weather the current global economic
turmoil. Finance Minister Trevor Manuel says South Africa

but says South Africa is in a good economic position.
Government
supports Eskom's bid for a 53% tariff increase. Government
says the sharp increases in fuel costs are part of the electricity
tariff increase. Eskom has officially applied for a 53% price
increase. The move was condemned by political parties and
trade unions, who feel the poor will be hit hardest by the

FISH
BIRYANI (Serves 6 – 8)
---------------------------
Once you’ve tasted this delicious fish breyani, you’ll
travel to the ends of the earth (or at least to Durban!)
to find all the spices the recipe demands. It’s a
bit time-consuming, but well worth the effort in the end
and will feed a lot of people.
50
ml oil - 1 large onion, sliced into rings - 4 cardamom seeds
- 4 whole cloves - 2 pieces stick cinnamon - 5 ml chopped
fresh ginger - 4 cloves garlic, crushed - 5 ml barishap
- 5 ml cumin seeds (jeera) - 5 ml ground coriander - 5 ml
leaf masala - 5 ml breyani masala - 1 kg fresh fish, cubed
- salt - 5 ml fish masala - 6 small potatoes, peeled - 200g
(500 ml) uncooked rice - 5 ml turmeric - 125 ml lentils
(masoor) - 4 hard-boiled eggs.
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion, cardamom seeds,
cloves, cinnamon, ginger and garlic until the onion is tender
and all the flavours have blended together. Add the barishap,
cumin seeds, coriander, leaf masala, breyani masala and
a little water. Simmer until an aromatic paste is formed.
Season
the fish with salt and fish masala and add together with
potatoes to the paste. Fry until the mixture acquires a
nice yellow colour. Cover and braise until cooked. The potatoes
should be soft but still intact. Add extra water if necessary.
Add
the rice to boiling salted water along with the turmeric
and boil until tender. Drain and set aside. Cook the lentils
in boiling water until soft and drain. Combine the rice
and lentils and arrange layers of the breyani mixture and
rice in a saucepan. Add a little water, cover with a piece
of waxed paper and lid, and steam for about half an hour.
Slice the eggs into quarters and place on top of the breyani
just before serving.

IN THE GRAVE

Many people doubt the fact that people in the grave are
going through severe punishments or enjoying a peaceful
stay. This is due to the reason that when a grave is dug,
we do not see any fire burning people or gigantic snakes
biting dead bodies. All we see are bones mixed with soil.
Well, then where is the punishment or peace? Whether we
can see it or not, the promise of Allah is true. Allah gave
us many things to understand things better. He tells us
that there are signs in His creations for those who think.
To
understand this particular issue (grave) better, we can
examine our dreams. Say, a person is sleeping right beside
you. He is seeing a dream where some people are trying to
kill him. They catch him and start beating him. Finally,
they take out a gun and shoot him. You are sitting beside
this sleeping individual, but you do not see any of these
things. However, he is experiencing all these things, it's
just you cannot see. The same way, that individual in the
grave is going through all the things that are promised
by Allah.
