THE STORY |
EXTRAORDINARILY
LARGE LIZARD CRAWLING
- Allah's Vast And Comprehensive Mercy -
---------------------------------------
Yusuf bin Al-Husain is the narrator of this story:
"I
was with Dhi-an-Nun on the edge of a stream, when we saw
an extraordinarily large lizard crawling along the side
of the stream. Something strange yet wonderful then happened.
A frog surfaced from the stream, the lizard mounted its
back, and the frog then swam to the other side of the stream,
carrying its passenger on its back. Dhi-an-Nun said, "There
is something interesting about that lizard let us go and
follow it." We crossed the stream (which wasn't so
wide in width), and on the other side, we saw a drunken
man who had passed out. Suddenly, a snake appeared before
the prone body of the drunkard. It slithered its way up
to the man's navel to his chest, making a direct course
to one of his ears. The lizard we saw earlier then sprang
into action. It jumped onto the snake and struck it violently,
splitting its body into two. Returning to the edge of the
stream, the lizard then mounted the frog again, and the
two crossed to the other side of the stream, though both
were still visible to us. Dhi-an-Nun woke up the drunkard,
who slowly opened his eyes and became conscious of what
was happening around him. Dhi-an-Nun said, "O young
man, look how Allah has saved you! When this snake came
to kill you, that lizard came and killed it. He then explained
the entire story to the young man.
The
young man stood up and exclaimed: "O my lord, this
is how you deal with one who disobeys you, then what will
your mercy be like for the one who obeys you?" He then
betook himself to the desert, vowing to dedicate his life
to worship and to never return to the evils of the city.

Lebanese man has been sentenced to life in jail for a failed
plot to bomb a German commuter train in 2006. A regional superior
court in the city of Dusseldorf on Tuesday convicted 24-year-old

el-Hajj Dib and an accomplice, Jihad Hamad, boarded two trains
in Cologne, one headed for Koblenz, one for Dortmund, in July

HEALTH TIPs |
MENTAL
WORK
-------------
It is necessary to engage in some sort of mental work. Not
engaging the brain causes increase in moisture in the brain,
which causes dim-wittedness. On
the other hand, over taxing the brain with deep thought,
causes dryness to the brain which leads to weakness.
It
is therefore preferable to estimate the amount of work prior
to undertaking it. Be in the habit of reading and teaching.
Recite the Qur'ân daily. Try and read some book or the other.
Always think over matters. Do not become so angry that you
lose control over yourself. At the same time do not be so
tolerant that you are unable to maintain any discipline.

A THOUGHT |
CERTAINTY
IN FAITH
---------------------
Certainty-and that is firm, established and unshakeable faith
in which there is no doubt and (the faith) which does not
hesitate, suspect or doubt in the five fundamentals that Allaah,
the Exalted, has mentioned in His saying:
"It
is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness and obedience to Allaah)
that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers);
but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allaah,
the Last Day, the Angels, the Book and the Prophets. [Soorah
al-Baqarah (2):177].
The Messenger (sallallahu alaihiwasallam) combined them all
in the hadeeth of Umar RA in his saying about eemaan, "That
you believe in Allaah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers
and the Final Day.." [reported by al-Bukharee (1/20)
and Muslim (1/37) from Umar ibn al-Khattaab].
Certainty
is that a (person’s) faith in these fundamentals is strengthened
until they become visible to the heart, evident to it, their
relationship to keen insight (baseerah) being like the relation
of the sun and the moon to the sight (i.e., clearly visible).

THE SMILE |
THE
HAUNTED CAR
----------------
A man was hitch hiking on a very dark night in the middle
of a storm. The night was rolling by and there was hardly
a car on the road. The storm was so strong that he could
hardly see his feet in front of him. Suddenly a car came
towards him and stopped. Without thinking, he got in and
closed the door, just to realize that there was nobody behind
the steering wheel. The car moved off slowly. He looked
ahead and saw a curve in the road.
Scared,
he started praying, begging for his life. He was terrified.
Just before hitting the curve a hand appeared through the
window and turned the steering wheel. The man, now paralyzed
with fear, watched how the hand kept appearing every time
they got to a curve.
Gathering
all his courage, he jumped out and ran to the nearest lights
he could see. Wet and in shock, he went into a motel and asked
for a drink. After drinking it, he told everyone of the horrible
experience he just had. Everyone was silent when they realized
he was crying.
About
half an hour later, two men came walking into the motel and,
on seeing the terrified man, the one said to the other, "Look,
(my friend), that's the idiot that got into the car while
we were pushing it". |
