SURAH
AD-DAHR: 76 - (The Time)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
We
have created them, and have made their joints strong. And
whenever We will, We would replace them with others like them,
a total replacement. [28] Indeed, this is a reminder; so let
anyone who so wishes, adopt a way to his Lord. [29] And you
will not so wish, unless Allah so wills. Indeed Allah is All-Knowing,
All-Wise. [30] He admits whomsoever He wills to His mercy.
As for the wrongdoers, for them He has prepared a painful
punishment. [31]
COMMENTARY:
Miracles of Nature Respecting Human Joints - This verse alludes
to the fact that even though man's limbs and organs are perpetually
in motion, and the wear and tear on them is phenomenal, they
continue to function from birth to death. When machines made
of iron or steel wear out and require regular servicing to
remain functioning for even a short period, man's body, made
of soft tissues and muscles, functions for decades and scores
of years without maintenance. Let us take the joints of the
fingers [or other joints of the human body]. They are moved
vigorously in different ways in an uncountable number of times.
Heavy pressure and force is applied to them for seventy to
eighty years [on an average], yet the finger-joints [and other
joints] remain intact. It is certainly only Allah Who makes
this possible. 'Glorious is Allah, the Best of Creators!

RECITE
THE NOBLE QUR'AN
By Ml Ashraf Ali Thanwi RA
-------------------------
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: "Continue
reciting the Qur'aan because on the Day of Qiyaamah it will
appear as an intercessor for the reciter." (Muslim)
The intercession of the Qur'aan will result in the reciter
being pardoned.
Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: "On the Day of Qiyaamah
the Qur'aan will petition Allah to cloak the one who had
recited it with garments of honour and respect. A crown
of honour will then be placed on the head of the reciter.
The Qur'aan will then petition Allah Ta'ala to shower His
pleasure on the reciter. Allah will then become pleased
with him. The reciter will then be asked to recite the Qur'aan,
thereby attaining higher ranks of elevation. In reward for
each aayat a virtue will accrue to him." (Tirmithi
and Ibn Khuzaimah)
Another
hadith as well describes the elevation of ranks by means
of reciting the Qur'aan in the Hereafter. The hadith states:
"Continue climbing (higher and higher in rank) with
your recitation in the same way as you recited with care
and concern on earth. Your abode (of residing) is located
(at that rank attained) with the last aayat recited."
(Tirmithi, Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah, Ibn Hibbaan)
One
should reflect and take advantage of this great treasure
in store in the Aakhirah, by striving in the recitation
of the Qur'aan. Effort should be made to secure this wonderful
wealth for one's offspring. If one experiences difficulty
in memorising or in reciting, one should never lose hope
and give up the recitation. Even reciting in such circumstances
is highly meritorious as has been explained earlier. If
unable to commit the Qur'aan to memory, then merely recite
it (by way of Naatharah i.e. looking inside and reading).
Impart this recitation to others as well. The significance
and thawaab are indeed great.
The
acquisition of the ways and means of a practice or act which
is incumbent and rewardable is also incumbent and rewardable.
Like it is essential to render the act or practice so too
is it essential to acquire its ways and means. This is a
simple and self-evident fact. It is therefore incumbent
to make the necessary arrangements for learning and teaching
the Qur'aan Majeed. The ways and means of rendering this
duty is to establish a Maktab (or Madrasah) in your locality
so that children can be taught to recite the Qur'aan Majeed.
Adults too should devote some time towards this acquisition.
If a free instructor or teacher is not available, the community
should engage a salaried teacher.
Boys
who have acquired the knowledge of reciting at the Madrasah
should teach it to the females at home. In this way all
males and females will be able to recite the Qur'aan Majeed.
If anyone is unable to recite the Qur'aan, he/she should
at least memorise a few Surahs.
Besides
the above, there are some other Huqooq (rights and demands)
of the Qur'aan Majeed. These are:
a. Once the Qur'aan Majeed has been learnt it should never
be forgotten. Whatever part/s have been learnt should always
be remembered.
b.
A person who wishes to learn the translation of the Qur'aan
Majeed should not undertake the task by means of self-study.
In self- study of the Qur'aan's translation is the grave
danger of misunderstanding. Its translation should be studied
under the guidance of an Aalim.
c.
The Qur'aan Majeed demands the utmost respect and reverence.
Never stretch the legs in its direction nor turn your back
to it. Do not sit higher than the Qur'aan Majeed and do
not place it on the ground. Place it on a desk or pillow
or any high place.
d.
Torn, tattered and unusable pages and copies of the Qur'aan
Majeed should be wrapped in a clean cloth and buried in
such a spot which will not be trampled underfoot.
e. When reciting the Qur'aan Majeed contemplate that you
are conversing with Allah Ta'ala. The spiritual light with
which the heart will then become imbued will be vividly
perceived.

The
graves of as many as 500 Muslim war veterans have been vandalised
in northern France, in an attack which President Nicolas Sarkozy
calls repugnant. Gravestones were daubed with swastikas and
letters spelling out anti-Islamic slogans. The attack took
place on the eve of Islam's Eid al-Adha festival, when Muslims
visit the graves of loved ones.
India
is to make changes to its security and intelligence agencies
in the wake of last month's Mumbai terror attacks, which left
at least 171 people dead. The government will create a national
investigative agency, boost coastal security forces, improve
the training regimen for local police and strengthen anti-terror
laws, India's home minister said.
A
UN Security Council panel has said that a charity based in
Pakistan is a front group for the organisation blamed by India
for last month's deadly attacks on Mumbai. Jamaat-ud-Dawa
is operating for Lashkar-e-Taiba, also a Pakistan-based group,
and is subject to UN sanctions on terrorist organisations,
the al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee said on Wednesday.
The
Land Affairs Affairs Department has asked the National Treasury
for a big increase in funding to meet its land reform targets.
Director-General Thozi Gwanya told reporters in Parliament
that the department needed an additional R74 billion if it
is to redistribute 30% of agricultural land by 2014. He said
the cost of buying agricultural land has soared because of
inflation and the increasing use of the land for developments
such as golf estates and game farms.
The
Co-founder and leader of the Congress of the People (COPE),
Mousioa Lekota, has lambasted violent disruptions caused by
ANC supporters during voting in yesterday’s by-elections.
He was addressing a packed Athlone hall in Cape Town last
night.

A THOUGHT |
TREASURE
---------
My
friend, the King without consulting thee has laid up a treasure
in some spot. If such be His will, He will take it away or
He will leave it where it is. Why seek to know why He laid
it up or why He will take it away?
This
faithless world has no light, it has no feast that is not
followed by mourning. If it offer thee silver, it is stone,
and if it offer thee an excuse it is a lame one.

THE SMILE |
STAY!
------
I pulled into a crowded parking lot and rolled down the
car windows to make sure my Labrador retriever had fresh
air. She was stretched out on the back seat, and I wanted
to impress upon her that she must remain there. I walked
to the curb backward, pointing my finger at the car and
saying emphatically, "Now you stay. Do you hear me?
Stay!"
The driver of a nearby car gave me a startled look. "I
don't know about you, lady," he said incredulously.
"But I usually just put my car in park."
