QUOTE |
Ibn
Hazam al-Andalusee (rahima-hullaah) mentions: "(When
you compare yourself with others in matters of wealth, position,
and health, you should look at people less favoured than yourself.
When you compare yourself with others in matters of religion,
knowledge and virtue, look at people who are better than yourself)"
- al-Akhlaaq was-Siyar - Ibn Hazam al-Andalusee |

PERSONALITY |
HASAN
AL-BASRI RA
--------------------
Al-Hasan ibn Abi ‘l Hasan al-Basri was born at Medina in 21
(642), the son of a slave captured in Maisan who afterwards
became a client of the Prophet Mohammad Sallallahu Alyhi Wa
Sallam's secretary Zaid ibn Thabet.
Brought
up in Basra, he met many Companions of the Prophet Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam including, it is said, seventy of those who
fought at the Battle of Badr. He grew up to become one of
the most prominent figures of his generation, being famous
for his uncompromising piety and outspoken condemnation of
worldliness in high places.
Whilst
the Mo’tazelite theologians claim him as the founder of their
movement (and ‘Amr ibn ‘Obaid and Wasel ibn ‘Ata’ are counted
amongst his pupils), in Sufi hagiography he is revered as
one of the greatest saints of early Islam. He died at Basra
in 110 (728). Many of his speeches—he was a brilliant orator—and
sayings are quoted by Arab authors and not a few of his letters
have been preserved. |

HANDY HINT |
GARDENING:
Make sure the rake is long enough to prevent any back strain
or injury. A short rake causes you to bend over too much.
A proper rake will allow raking from an upright position. |

FIQH |
It
is Makruh (undesirable) to do the following in Salaah: to
crack one's fingers, to rest one's hands on one's hips,
to turn one's head and look to the left or right. However,
if one looks at something by glancing sideways without turning
one’s head, then this is not Makruh. However, to do this
without any real need is also not good.

A THOUGHT |
THE
HEART
----------
The heart is placed in one of the most protected places in
the body. By being placed in the rib-cage with a special design,
the heart, one of the most important organs, is very well
protected against external blows. SUBHAANALLAH!!!! |
|
THE SMILE |
SIGNATURE
-----------
I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when
the clerk noticed that I had never signed my name on the back
of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete
the transaction unless the card was signed.
When
I asked why, she explained that it was necessary to compare
the signature on the credit card with the signature I just
signed on the receipt.
So
I signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared
that signature to the one I signed on the receipt. Luckily,
they matched. |
