`Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`as (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is one of the gravest sins to abuse one's parents.'' It was asked (by the people): "O Messenger of Allah, can a man abuse his own parents?'' Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He abuses the father of somebody who, in return, abuses the former's father; he then abuses the mother of somebody who, in return, abuses his mother". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Another narration is: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "One of the major sins is to curse one's parents". It was submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! How can a man curse his own parents?'' He (PBUH) said, "When someone curses the parents of another man who in return abuses the former's father; and when someone abuses the mother of another man who in return abuses his mother.''

Commentary: We learn from this Hadith that one should not abuse anyone's parents, because in the event, he is paid in the same coin, he will be responsible for disgracing his own parents.

Apartheid Israel has begun releasing a number of Palestinian prisoners ahead of a visit to the region by the US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. Around 200 Palestinians held in Israeli jails have returned to the West Bank as part of a move Israel says is aimed at bolstering Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president. About 11,000 Palestinians will remain in Israeli prisons after today’s mass release.

Police have detained two Muslim leaders in India-administered Kashmir amid a curfew ahead of an independence rally. The rally against Indian control today is expected to be the biggest protest in two decades despite the curfew and heavy police presence.

Mufti Hussain Bhayat and Haroon Saleh, the two South Africans who were arrested in Uganda, will today receive consular service. Speaking on Sabhul Muslim this morning, attorney Yusha Tayob says the true condition of the men will be known later today.

Zimbabwe is preparing to reconvene its parliament today for the first time since a general election in March. The move comes despite a standoff between President Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangari over a power-sharing agreement. Streets alongside Parliament House in Harare were closed over the weekend.

ANC Women's League President, Angie Motshekga, has added her voice to calls for charges against ANC president Jacob Zuma to be withdrawn. Motshekga was speaking at a Women's Month rally, where she says any attack on an ANC leader is an attack on women themselves.

BATTER
500ml Flour - 10ml Baking powder - 2.5ml bicarbonate of soda - 80ml castor sugar - 250ml buttermilk - 60g butter melted - 60ml honey - 1 egg - Extra honey.

METHOD
Place flour, baking powder, bicarb and castor sugar in a bowl. Combine the butter milk, melted butter, honey and egg in a separate bowl and mix well. Add to the dry ingredients and mix taking care not to over mix. Fill greased muffin pans 1/3rd of the way up with the batter. Sprinkle with a little of the filling mixture, cover with the remaining batter and top with remaining filling. Bake at 200c for 20 mins until golden brown, remove from oven and drizzle honey over each muffin.
