THE OBLIGATION OF ADHERING TO THE SUNNAH

Allâh has done humankind a great favour by sending Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, to them as a Messenger. Allâh says,

“We sent thee not, but as a mercy for all creatures.” (Al-Anbiyâ 21:107)

The Muslim is specially blessed with the message of Muhammad because he followed it and acted upon it; and the disbeliever is also generally blessed with the message of Islâm because Muslims’ adherence to the teachings of their religion prevents the evil of the disbelievers and dries up the sources of great corruption that could have occurred in the land. Allâh says,

“And did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief: but Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds.” (Al-Baqarah 2:251)

Allâh revealed the greatest Book to His Messenger and He revealed to him the greatest explanation for that Book in form of the Sunnah. He undertakes the protection of the Qur’ân and the Sunnah from interpolations and changes and protects them from perverted ideas and interpretations. Hospitals to suffer from power cuts. Hospitals will not be protected from power cuts in the new load-shedding plan. The report is contrary to an assurance given to the Johannesburg Hospital by City Power. Hospital chief executive Saggie Pillay says he is "surprised" by the information that his hospital will not be excluded from the load-shedding.

LAMB CURRY

1 large onion, sliced into rings 1 sprig fresh curry leaves oil 15 ml (1 T) garlic and ginger paste 60 ml (4 T) mixed masala 2 ml (1/2 t) turmeric 2 medium-sized jam tomatoes 1 kg deboned leg of lamb, cubed; or stewing lamb, cubed 4-5 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and quartered fresh coriander leaves, chopped.

Fry the onion and curry leaves in a little heated oil until the onion is soft and golden brown. Stir in the garlic and ginger paste, masala and turmeric. Add the tomatoes and braise for about 3 minutes. Add the meat, cover, reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add the potatoes and about 60 ml (1/4 cup) water, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes. Add the chopped coriander leaves towards the end of the cooking time. Season with salt if necessary. Serve with rice and sambals such as chopped onion and tomato.

REPENTANCE

Tauba means repentance for a sin by taking promise not to do the same evil again and to return to Allah. Repentance is the beginning in the life of a person who intends to walk in the path of religion. It is the root of the fortune of those who are successful, the first step of a disciple, the key to guidance to the straight path, the weapon of purification of those who wish to come close to Allah and a dear thing of all prophets. So it is no wonder that man will commit sins.
