THE FAMILY IN ISLAAM

The Allah-fearing Muslim family is the heart of a healthy
community. The piety of a family is dependant on the piety
of individual members of the family, and the piety of a community
is likewise dependant on the piety of the families who make
up the community.
Islam attaches great importance to the family, how it is established
and how to keep it together. For the Muslim family to keep
up it’s high position it maintains a state of love and
harmony, and you find in it feelings of amicability and Kindness.
Allah says, “And among His Signs is this, that He created
for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose
in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy.”
He also says, “They are Libaas [i.e. body cover, or
screen, or Sakan, (i.e. you enjoy the pleasure of living with
her)] for you and you are the same for them.”(Al-Baqarah:
187).
The Qur’an made it clear to married couples that each
of them is essential to the other. Allah says, “It is
He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then)
He has created from him his wife [Hawwa’ (Eve)], in
order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her.”
It cannot be imagined that one could lead a normal, steadfast
human life if there was a complete destruction of the normal
family structure. read

Zimbabwe's
former finance minister Simba Makoni yesterday taunted Robert
Mugabe, suggesting he could unseat him as the ruling party's
candidate and stand for the presidency in his place. Makoni
announced is bid to challenge President Mugabe in presidential
elections next month.
Britain
has discarded a suggestion by the head of the Anglican Church
that partial Islamic law be enforced in the country to allow
Muslims to resolve marital and financial disputes, rather
than through British courts. Archbishop Rowan Williams said
that allowing British Muslims to have limited recourse to
Sharia could improve social unity.
Authorities
in Nepal say they have arrested a fugitive doctor wanted over
an illegal organ transplant ring in India, a month after police
shut down the operation just outside New Delhi. Amit Kumar
was arrested at a jungle resort in the south of the Nepali
capital, Kathmandu, a senior police official said on Thursday.
The
country will watch today as President Thabo Mbeki makes his
state of the nation address. Mbeki will speak on numerous
subjects including the change of leadership to the ruling
party and the future of the Scorpions.
Around
10 people were killed in a major early morning accident on
the Mabopane highway, north of Pretoria. A truck rammed into
the back of a bus near the Hebron off-ramp. Emergency workers
are still trying to cut people out of the wreckage. |

COCKTAIL
½ kg Pink Prawns (cleaned shelled and deveined) -
Steam with salt, pepper & red chillies.
IN a separate dish mix the following together:

3
tblsp mayonnaise - 2 tblsp tomato sauce - 1 tblsp Worcester
sauce - 1 tblsp lemon juice - 250ml sour cream - 1 green
apple cubed - ½ cucumber cubed - Onion & pineapple
(optional) cubed - Mix everything together and garnish.

TIP |
If
you put more salt in curry (any) or you feel like you have
put more salt then cut raw potato slices drop it in the curry
dish and wait for half an hour. Potato slices will absorb
all the excess salt. |
