| HADITH/SAYINGS
OF MUHAMMAD (SAW)

Umar
bin Abu Salamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I was a boy under the care of Messenger of Allah Sallallahu
alyhi wa sallam, and my hand would wander about in the dish.
Messenger of Allah Sallallahu alyhi wa sallam said to me
"Mention Allah's Name (i.e., say Bismillah before you
start eating), eat with your right hand and eat from what
is near to you". I always followed this way of eating
after this incident. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Commentary:
This Hadith brings the following points into focus:
1. Teaching good manners and morals to the children.
2. One must start his meals with Bismillah (Begin with the
Name of Allah) and take his share of food from the side
of vessel in front of him, if all are eating from one vessel.
If there are many varieties of fruit on the table then one
can choose freely.
3. If a child makes any mistake, he should be corrected
right away because that proves more effective and is engraved
in his mind and heart.

The
United States Africa command, AFRICOM, has now begun its
operations from a military base in Germany. It
has been set up to promote U.S. National Security objectives
in Africa.
The
North Terminal of King Abdul Aziz International Airport
in Jeddah is still chaotic as Umrah pilgrims prepare to
leave the holy lands. Passengers continued to find difficulty
in gaining entry into the terminal halls for security checks
and check-in formalities.
US
Vice President Dick Cheney has lashed out at Iran saying
his country and other nations will not allow Iran to obtain
a nuclear weapon. Iran has vehemently denied that they are
pursuing a nuclear weapons programme.
Israeli officials says they have uncovered a plot intended
to kill Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert. The alleged
murder attempt was to take place in August when Olmert met
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Jacob
Zuma supporters have rejected the idea of a "compromise"
candidate for the ANC presidency. They say their man, Zuma
is a "tried and tested" leader to take control
of the party after the December conference in Limpopo.
A KwaZulu-Natal man was repeatedly stabbed at the weekend
over a R2 coin. Umlazi police say Bonginkosi Mkhize was stabbed
four times at the weekend. He died at the scene.
The controversial “spanking clause” is being discussed
by government’s portfolio committee today. The clause
bans parents from administering any form of corporal punishment
on their children.
At
issue is wording that stipulates that "no child may be
subjected to corporal punishment or be punished in a cruel,
inhuman or degrading way", but does not spell out what
is meant by such corporal punishment. |

Tapioca
Pudding
Ingredients
½ cup small pearl tapioca - 3 cups full cream
milk or skim milk with cream added - ¼ tsp salt - 2
eggs - ½ cup sugar - ½ tsp vanilla.
Method
Combine tapioca, milk and salt in pan on medium heat.
Stir until boiling. Simmer for 5 minutes uncovered at the
lowest possible heat adding sugar gradually. Beat eggs in
a separate bowl and mix a little of the tapioca mixture very
slowly to equalize the temperature. Return eggs to the pot
with the tapioca and bring to the boil. Stir for 3 minutes
more over lowest possible heat. Stir constantly, you may cook
a little longer than 3 mins if needed to get a nice thick
pudding consistency. Cool for 15 minutes add vanilla. Serve
either warm or chilled. |
