FIQH (ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE)
If a quarter of a woman's calf, thigh or arm gets exposed while offering Salaah and it remains exposed to the extent that she can read Sub'haanallah three times; then her Salaah will break and she will have to repeat it. But if she covers that part the moment it is exposed, her Salaah will still be valid. In the same way, if a quarter of any part that is supposed to be covered when offering Salaah gets exposed, then the Salaah will not be valid. For example, if a quarter of the ear, head, hair, stomach, back, neck, bosom, chest, etc. gets exposed; then the Salaah will not be valid.

Do not be a mimicker

Do not transform yourself into someone who you are not: do not mimic others. Many are those that feign to forget their own voices, movements, idiosyncrasies, and habits, in order to imitate others in their ways. Among the consequences of such behaviour are artificiality, unhappiness, and a destruction of one's own entity.

From Adam AS to the last born baby, no two people are exactly the same in appearance. Why then should they be the same in mannerism and tastes?

You are unique - none had been like you in the past and none shall be like you in the future. You are totally different from X or Y, so do not force upon yourself the blind following and imitation of others. Go forth according to your own nature and disposition.

“Each group of people knew its own place for water.” (Quran 2: 60) – “For every nation there is a direction to which they face, so hasten towards all that is good. (Quran 2: 148)

Be as you were created and do not change your voice or modify your walk. Cultivate your personality by following what is found in revelation, but do not render your existence void by imitating others and by depriving yourself of your individuality.

Your tastes and preferences are specific to you and we want you to stay as you are, especially because that is the way you were created and that is how we know you to be. The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “And let no one among you be an imitator of others."

In terms of characteristics, people are like the world of trees and plants: sweet and sour, tall and short, and so on. Your beauty and value is in preserving your natural state. Our varied colours, languages, talents, and abilities are signs from our Creator, the Almighty, All-Glorious, so do not disbelieve in them.

DUA (PRAYER)
Abandonment of Supplication for Sin and for the Severance of the Ties of Kinship.
Sayyadina 'Abu Hurayrah RA reported that the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: The servant shall continue to have his supplications answered so long as he does not supplicate for sin, or the severance of kinship; so long as he does not rush it. They said: O Messenger of Allah what is "rushing it?" He said [that] he say I have supplicated, and supplicated, and I have not seen an answer; thereupon, getting tired and abandoning supplication.

NEWS
The Zuma corruption case continues this morning in the Durban High Court. ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma, will raise concerns about his international reputation should the State be allowed to seek documents from Mauritius.

Iran and the United States have held their first formal talks in almost three decades. The four-hour meeting in Baghdad focused on security issues in Iraq. It was termed as positive but failed to provide any concrete breakthrough.

Western Cape education MEC, Cameron Dugmore, wants to ban scissors from being brought into schools throughout the province.

The Western Cape traffic department is clamping down on motorists who obtained their learners and licenses fraudulently. Fraud involving 9 000 learners' and drivers' licences is being investigated.

The United States is to impose new sanctions on Sudan today over the Darfur conflict. US President George Bush will announce the in remarks that single out Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir.

RECIPE
CHICKEN SQUARES
½ Kg Chicken mince - 1 tsp masala - 1 tsp dhana geero - 2 Tbsp ground badaam - Salt to taste - 2 Tbsp ghee - 4 slices bread.

Mix all the above together. Roll on piece of foil and steam for a while. Slice whilst warm and dip in cake flour. Freeze if desired. Thaw at room temp and dip in egg and fry in shallow oil.

HANDY HINT
Use Empty toilet paper rolls to store appliance cords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs to.
