"A young man would tell me something that I may have heard before he was even born. Nevertheless, I would still listen to him as if I had never heard it before." (Imam Ata ibn Abi Rabah)

THE MESSAGE
Ambition
By Sh Usaamah Khayyaat
------------------------
Fellow Muslims! Man’s aspiration to attain high ranks and degrees of virtue and his efforts towards achieving perfection in matters of religion and life is clear evidence of his sound mind and fine intellectual and psychological structure. It is also a sign of his entitlement to all the good of this world and the next. Such a man rises above the standard of the low-minded people, those who have no will to aim high, who are indifferent and lazy and are pleased to live on the sidelines of life.

In contrast to the people of high-mindedness is another group of people who seek abhorrent objectives that no sensible person would ever desire or even cast a look at. These include aspiring to commit sins that Allah and His Prophet Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam have forbidden and warned against and aspiring to snatch away blessings from Allah that others have acquired. These people wish to seize these blessings for themselves without earning them. They would resort to jealousy, injustice and aggression to achieve their aims. read more

DUA/PRAYER
Being presented with a Gift and when someone makes a Dua for one
It is reported of Sayyadatina Aisha RA that she said: A small goat was presented to the Messenger of Allah, he said: "Divide it out," then whenever the servant would return Sayyadatina Aisha RA would say: What did they say? She would say: They said: May Allah bestow blessings in you ( Bãraka 'allãhu feekum then Sayyadatina Aisha RA would say: And in them may Allah bestow blessings ( wa feehim bãraka 'allãhu we return upon them the same as what they said, and our reward remains for us.

POEM
If you would ever question me,
This would be my outright answer to Thee:
True, I sinned - brutalized my own being,
But what have I done against you, my King?

To shun death by hunger, many a time,
In prison, I had to eat dirt and grime.
Did your dominion become any less?
Did I usurp any of your prowesses?
You built me a bridge to cross, thin as hair;
Out of your traps I'm to choose my own snare.

I wish its firm foundation will hold sway
So those who cross it know it's the true way.
A scale is suitable for a grocer,
For a small merchant or a jeweller.
Sin, though, is the vilest, filthiest vice,
The profit of those unworthy of Grace.
No harm ever came from Yunus to you;
Open, secret - all things are in your view.

A THOUGHT
Frantic Action

"Action should culminate in wisdom." - If anything, we of the Western world are a people of action. We are frantic to be doing, whether or not we quite understand the game plan or our role in it. Just watch us kick up the dust! This same "Do It Now and Evaluate It Later" attitude can mock our best efforts to raise self-esteem. Without understanding the goal, we may well plunge with reckless abandon into an exhausting program of action. Walking, reading, dieting, and going to meetings and speaking up may all be a part of such a programme.

Wisdom may dictate moderation, however. The results of past frantic action may often have been disappointing. Perhaps this time we should accept that less can be more, that motion and forward movement aren't the same thing, that peaceful self-acceptance is the goal-not a self-improvement list with a hundred items on it. Most of my progress does require action. But action not guided by wisdom can be wearing and wasteful.
