UNDERSTANDING THE QUR’AN
SURAH AN-NAAZIAAT: 79
(Those Who Pull Out)
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE BENEFICENT THE MOST MERCIFULthen for the one who had rebelled, [37]
and preferred the worldly life (to the Hereafter), [38]
the Hell will be the abode, [39]COMMENTARY: First, the special marks of the inmates of Hell are described. They have two characteristics: (then for the one who had rebelled, and preferred the worldly life [to the Hereafter]...79:38).
In other words,
[1] Instead of remaining loyal to Allah and His Messenger and following their commands, they adopt the line of rejection and rebellion; and
[2] Prefer the life of this world to that of the Hereafter. In other words, if he were to do a deed that gives comfort and pleasure in this world but punishment in the Hereafter, he would prefer the comforts and pleasure of this life to the pleasure of the next life. Those who are characterized by these two qualities the Blazing Fire, that is Hell, will be their abode, thus: (the Hell will be the abode... 79:39).THE MESSAGEBackbiting and Tale bearing
Khutbah (sermon) by Sh Ali Abdur-Rahmaan Al-Huthaifi – Imam of Haram
----------------------------
Major sins are indeed the cause for all misery, evil and torment in this world and the hereafter. And the worst of all sins are those that are greatest in harm and danger. Among the destructive major sins are backbiting and slandering. These two sins were forbidden by Allah through His Prophet because they sow enmity, evils and discord among people and lead to destruction. They make their perpetrator regret when regret will be of no avail. They cause hostilities between people of the same household and between neighbours and relatives. They can decrease in good deeds and increase in evil ones and lead to dishonour and ignominy.Backbiting and slandering are shame and disgrace. Their perpetrator is detested and he shall not have a noble death. Allah forbids these acts in His Book when He says, “O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion; in deeds some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah, verily, Allah is the one who accepts repentance, Most Merciful” (Al-Hujuraat: 12). read more
DUA/PRAYER
SEEKING GOODNESS IN THIS WORLD AND HEREAFTER
It is reported by Sayyadina Anas RA that the Messenger of Allah visited a sick man who had become faint like a faint hearted man, so the Messenger of Allah said did you use to supplicate for something, or ask Him it? He said: Yes. I used to say O' my 'ilãh whatever you were going to punish me with in the Hereafter, then hurry it for me in this worldly life, so the Messenger of Allah said: Subhana 'allãhi you cannot bear that, or you are not able of that. Would not you say:'Allãhumma 'ãtinã fd-dunyã hasanatan wa fil 'ãkhirati hasanatan wa qinã `athãban-nari
Our Lord! Bring us Good in this world and Good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of the Fire.
AND… FOR THE KIDDIES
The Brazier and His Dog
A BRAZIER had a little Dog, which was a great favourite with his master, and his constant companion. While he hammered away at his metals the Dog slept; but when, on the other hand, he went to dinner and began to eat, the Dog woke up and wagged his tail, as if he would ask for a share of his meal. His master one day, pretending to be angry and shaking his stick at him, said, "You wretched little sluggard! what shall I do to you? While I am hammering on the anvil, you sleep on the mat; and when I begin to eat after my toil, you wake up and wag your tail for food. Do you not know that labour is the source of every blessing, and that none but those who work are entitled to eat?'
MORAL: All Creatures do naturally look to the main Chance. Whatever you do, do with all your might.

A painting on a wall resembles a man, but see what it is lacking in that empty form. 'Tis life that is lacking to that mere semblance of man. Go! seek for that pearl it never will find. The heads of earth's lions were bowed down when God gave might to the seven sleepers' dog. What mattered its despised form when its soul was drowned in the sea of light?"THE SMILE
Devasny Koopasamy had a bad attendance record with the company he worked for, particularly being late for work in the morning. He was called to a disciplinary hearing where he was given a chance to explain his reasons. His argument: "I get up in the morning. I shower, I look in the mirror and try tuh straiten my hair. Den I sumtimes miss de texi and then I am late."
His boss has a bright idea. He gets one of Devasny Koopasamy colleagues to sneak into Devasny Koopasamy room and steal the mirror off the wall, without Devasny Koopasamy knowledge.
The following day Devasny Koopasamy does not turn up for work. The same happens the day after that. So Devasny Koopasamy gets summoned to another hearing to explain his reasons for not attending work.
His argument: "I get up in de morning. I shower, I look in de mirror. I see no Devasny Koopasamy. I think Devasny Koopasamy already left for work"
