HADITH, SAYINGS/TRADITIONS OF MUHAMMAD SAW
Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The worst food is the food of the marriage banquet from which those are left out who would like to come; and to which those are invited who refuse to come. He who rejects an invitation disobeys Allah and His Messenger". [Muslim]

In another narration Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The worst food is the food of the marriage banquet to which the rich are invited and from which the poor are left out". [Muslim]

Commentary: Our rich class has made Walimah (marriage banquet given by the bridegroom) a highly luxurious affair and a means of displaying wealth and richness. This excessive exaggeration of a simple feast has brought in its wake many religious, moral and social evils. In its present form, it is sheer extravagance and wastage which are satanic acts and those who do it are brothers of Satan.

Its moral disadvantage is that one invites in this function only people of his own status and not the poor, whereas the fact is that it is the latter who deserve to be invited because of their need, and not the former. This Hadith exhorts to participate in the Walimah ceremony but it is the kind of feast which is simple and in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

THE MESSAGE

TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF
Rekindling the Islamic brotherhood and unity is impossible if we don’t become obedient to the commands of Allah Ta’aala. Allah says “And (Allah) created the bond of love between their hearts. If you (O Muhammad!) had spent whatever there is on this earth, you will not have been able to create that bond of love between their hearts.” But Allah created the bond between them. The Mufassireen (commentators) write that this means love between Muslims, a bounty of Allah. He does not confer this bounty to those who are disobedient.

A quality of the Muttaqeen (righteous) is that “they do not intentionally continue with wrongdoing.” They make Taubah (repent). Taubah has 3 conditions for acceptance, regret, abstention, and a firm intention not to commit the act again. If we made an intention to abstain only for one month, then that is not sincere Taubah. If we return to our old ways then it’s a sign that our Taubah was invalid.

We need to celebrate Islam, our fortune of being members of the greatest faith ever revealed to humankind, our blessings at receiving the most comprehensive of scriptures that has ever descended from the heavens. We need to celebrate our selection as followers of the greatest man ever who walked on the face of this earth.

Once Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam asked the Sahaba: “the Imaan (faith) of which creation amazes you the most?” They replied the Imaan of the Malaaika. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said “What reason do they have not to believe whilst they are in the presence of their sustainer?” They said then, it must be the Imaan of the Prophets. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said “what reason do they have not to believe whilst they are the recipients of the divine revelation. They said our Imaan. Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said “what reason do you have not to believe whilst I’m in your midst?” Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam thereupon said “indeed the most amazing faith unto me is that of a people who will come after my demise. They will find pages within which is a scripture and simply believe therein i.e. without seeing me. (Mishkaat)

Yes, we are living in very demanding times yet we must draw strength from the fact that Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam acknowledged our Imaan in this day and age. We are weak but not worthless.

DUA/PRAYER
Upon Mounting Means of Transportation
Ali bin Rabee`ata said: I witnessed Ali bin Abi Tãib when he was given a beast of burden to mount, just when he put his foot in the mount he said: In the name of Allah [ Bismillahi ], then when he had ascended upon its back, he said: All praise be to Allah [ Al-hamdu lil-lãh ], then he said: Subhãnal-lathee sakh-khara lanã hãthã wa mã kunnã lahu muqrineena. Wa'innã 'lã rabbinã lamunqaliboona. Then he said Al-hamdu lil-lãhi 3 times, then he said: 'Allãhu 'akbaru, 3 times, then he said: Subhãnaka 'allãhumma 'inne thalamtu nafsee, faghfirlee, fa'innahu lã yaghfiruth-thunooba 'illã 'anta… Glory be to Him who has availed this to our use, for we were not bound to it. And to our Lord surely we will be returning.

Then he smiled, so he was asked: O' Commander of the faithful! Why did you smile? He said: I saw the Prophet do as I have done, then he smiled, so I asked him: O' Messenger of Allah! Why do you smile? He said "Your Lord Glorified and Exalted is He, admires when one of His bondservants says: Lord forgive me my sins, he knows that no one else forgives sins besides Me [Allah]".

HANDY HINT
If you are ironing sensitive or dark fabrics, use a pressing cloth between the fabric and the iron to prevent any damage done to the fabric (any thin white cotton linen cloth will do).

RECIPE
PASTA WITH VEGGIES
Ingredients
1 pkt baby squash – halved. 1 pkt baby marrows – cut up. 1 pkt corn spears. 1 pkt mushrooms – halved. 1 green pepper – cut in cubes. 1 red pepper – cut in cubed. 1 yellow pepper – cut in cubes. 1 pkt pasta – boiled.

Sauce
2 cups water - 2 tblsp maizena - Boil intil thick then add: 1 cup fresh cream & 1 cup sour cream.

Braise
2 tblsp butter - 1 tblsp crushed garlic - 1 tsp aromat - 1 tsp lemon pepper - 1 tsp salt - 1 tsp mixed herbs.

Mix everything together and steam for 5 min.
