SUNNAH, PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD SAW
Wudhu
To begin with washing the right side first.
Upon completion of Wudhu, look towards the sky and recite: Ash'hadu allaa ilaaha illallaahu wa Ash’hadu Anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasooluh. I bear witness that none is worthy of worship besides Allah, the Only One. He has no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam is His Slave and Messenger. Thereafter, recite the following du'aa: Allaahummaj'alni minat tawwaabeena waj'alni minal mutatahhireen O Allah! Include me amongst those who repent excessively and make me amongst-those who stay pure. (Hisn-e-Haseen)

Note: Regarding this Dua, Mullaa Ali Qaari rahmatullahi alayh states: Wudhu is a means of external purification; through this Dua a request is made for internal purification, i.e. the first (i.e. the external purification) was within our capability which we have fulfilled; (O Allah!) purify our internal (condition) through Your Mercy.

Note: All eight doors of Jannah are opened for the one who recites Kalimah Shahaadah after Wudhu; he may enter (Jannah) through whichever door he desires. (Mishkaat)

Wudhu should be performed at home according to Sunnah.

THE MESSAGE
The Importance of Asr Salaah

Salaah is the most important pillar of Islam after Imaan. Salaah has in fact been ordained as the corner stone of success of the People of Imaan. This is why the Shariah has emphasized that it should be performed correctly and punctually. Allah Ta’aala says in the Qur’an: Safeguard your Salaah and (especially) the middle Salaah (i.e. Asr Salaah) and stand before Allah with humility. (Surah al-Baqarah)

To 'safeguard' our Salaah means 'to perform it at its prescribed time and to be steadfast in it so as not to miss a single Salaah '. When this ayah (verse) was revealed, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallaam) warned the Sahaba (Radiyallahu anhum} against staying away from the Masjid, and even threatened to burn the homes of the men that performed their Salaah at home. (Tafseer Ibn Katheer) In the above ayah, the Asr Salaah has been emphasized since it occurs when people are generally preoccupied in worldly activities.

A Sign of True Imaan
Invariably the hours of Salaah will be encountered during the times of business and work - and this is the real test of Imaan. It is really a sign of true Imaan when a Muslim businessman suspends his business dealings and leaves his workplace to answer the call of Allah even during peak hours when customers surround him on all sides. Once Abdullah bin Umar (Radiyallahu anhu} was in the shopping centre. It was time for Salaah and people stood up, closed their shops and proceeded to the Masjid. Ibn Umar (Radiyallahu anhu} was delighted at seeing this and remarked, 'these are the people regarding whom this a ayah (in Surah an-Noor) was revealed: (Real) men whom neither trade nor merchandise distracts from the remembrance of Allah.’ read more

STORIES TO LEARN FROM
There was a king a long time ago and he had a vast kingdom. Though he had tremendous amount of wealth, but he didn't have peace of heart. So he decided to be a good Muslim. He heard that there is a very pious man who stays in a jungle and that many people go to visit him for advice. The king decided to visit him for some advice also.

When he got there, he asked the pious man "How can I become pious like you?" The pious man replied that remember death 40 times a day for 40 days. The king thought that it was very easy and he thanked him and left for his palace. He remembered death 40 times a day for 40 days but no change came to his life. He was same as before.

The king became angry and called the pious man to his court. The king told him that he is nothing but a liar and that he should be killed before he fools other people. It was decided that he will be beheaded the next day. But the Pious man had a request. He asked if he could become the king for a day. He promised that after getting the command, he will not kill the previous king or do any harm to him. So, the king agreed and made the pious man the king for a day.

As soon as the pious man became the king, he went to the market and saw a man selling peanuts. He told the soldiers to catch that man and bring him to the palace. So, the peanut sales man was brought to the court. The pious man told the peanut sales man that he will be killed tomorrow. The peanut sales man became frightened and dropped all his peanuts. He started crying and asked what he did. But the pious man said that he will be killed tomorrow and locked up in jail for today.

Now, as the peanut sales man knew that he is going to die, he forgot about everything else and started asking forgiveness from Allah. He started praying and doing excessive Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). The Pious man ordered that the most beautiful woman in the city should be brought and placed in the jail with the peanut sales man. She was brought and she asked the man to commit adultery with her. Now the pious man brought the previous king and told him to watch. The peanut sales man started yelling at the woman to get away because he is going to die tomorrow and this evil deed will surely cause him problems with Allah.

Then the pious man asked the previous king if he understood what is going on. The Pious man explained that when you really know that you will die, then you will surely stay away from all evil deeds and engage yourself in the worship of Allah. So, remembering death once properly would be enough to change the life of a human being.

Of course, the peanut sales man was released afterwards.

DUA (PRAYER)
FOR THE ONE WHOSE CHILD PASSES AWAY
ALHAMDULILLAH ALAA KULLI HAAL INNAA LILLAHI WA INNAA ILAYHI RAUJIOON.

BENEFIT: It come sin a Hadith that when a child passes away then Allah Ta’aala tells the angels: you have extracted the soul of the child of my servant. The angels reply: yes Our Lord! Allah Ta’aala says: you have broken the flower of his heart. The angels reply: yes. Allah SWT then asks: what did my servant say? The angels reply: he said ALHAMDULILLAH ALAA KULLI HAAL INNAA LILLAHI WA INNAA ILAYHI RAUJIOON. Allah SWT says: prepare a palace for my servant in Jannah and name it Baytul Hamd.

RECIPE
MOOTHIAS
Ingredients
3 cups spinach, shredded / methi baji - 1 large onion grated - 1 tomato chopped - ¼ cup mielie meal - ¼ cup self raising flour or plain flour with ¼ tsp baking powder added - ¼ cup chana flour - 1 tsp ground dhania - 1 tsp ground jeero - 1 tsp salt - 1 tblsp oil - 1 egg – can be omitted - 1 tsp green masala.

Method
Shred spinach very finely wash and drain well. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Or alternatively place all ingredients in a food processor and mix till well combined (add more flour if necessary). Form into small sausage shapes with wet hands and fry in shallow oil over medium heat. Brown on both sides and drain on paper towel. Serve hot with puri.

COOKING TIP
One may marinate the vegetables prior in some vinegar, garlic and chilli if desired. This will give a more piquant taste to the stew.

Backbiting poisons the whole body. How much are we backbiting and poisoning our bodies today, interfering in things that are not our business? Your business is your family and your child or children. For each of us, this business is to look after his/her own family, not to look at the neighbour.

NEWS
The Australian government reacted angrily to comments by a Muslim cleric who urged children to sacrifice their lives in holy war and mocked Jews as pigs. Australian-born Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, head of the Global Islamic Youth Centre in Sydney, made the comments on a collection of video discs exposed this week in a British television documentary called "Undercover Mosque". In the videos, on sale in Britain and Australia, Feiz says: "We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam. Late last year another Imam caused outrage by describing scantily-dressed women as "uncovered meat" inviting sexual attack.

Muslim leaders in the Netherlands have expressed concern that strict conditions imposed on the admission of foreign clerics could lead to Masjids without a properly trained imam and create breeding grounds for extremism. The Association of Imams in the Netherlands (VIN) said in response to a report in the daily Telegraaf newspaper that Muslim religious leaders were leaving for more accommodating countries like Belgium and Spain. Concern over Islamic extremism, particularly in the Moroccan community, has risen since the November 2004 murder of filmmakerTheo van Gogh.

In the sixth such incident of its kind worldwide, a 12-year-old boy has hanged himself in Tunisia, while imitating the execution of Saddam Hussein. The boy's mother found her son hanging from a tree in Gafsa, in southern Tunisia. She told police that the boy had viewed a film of Saddam's execution over the internet. The cord was tied around his neck in imitation of the way it had been done by Saddam's executioners in Iraq, the report said. Deaths of children who died in the same way have been reported in the US, Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia and Algeria.

Truckers and others working in the road freight industry could go on strike soon, the SA Transport and Allied Workers' Union (Satawu) warned. Satawu spokesman Ronnie Mamba said negotiations with road freight sector employers had collapsed. The union and employers have been in discussions since last year over salary increments, allowances for ultra long distances, and working conditions. The industry employs cash-in-transit workers, and drivers of "road ferry" trucks, furniture trucks and long distance truck drivers. Mamba said there are about 60,000 people working in the industry.

Torrential rains have destroyed over 1,000 houses, leaving more than 6,000 people homeless in northern Mozambique. 13 classrooms have also been swept away by the rain, and a further 150 houses are at risk of collapse. Other parts of the country have also been affected by heavy rain that has destroyed homes, knocked down electricity pylons and led to the collapse of a bridge. Earlier this month storms and torrential rains in southern and central Mozambique killed nine people and left about 7,000 people homeless.
