THE MESSAGE
Muslim on Muslim violence

The recent spate of Muslim on Muslim violence paints a chilling picture of enraged brothers brandishing guns against each other and against anyone who dares to even sniff at their macho image. They are the new generation of aristocratic hoodlums. Their personal integrity is heightened by the volume of sound decibels, their exquisite cars reflect their family fortunes and their designer clothes reflect their frivolous mindset. Their aggressive disposition is further enhanced by the blind support of enraged parents who are ensnared into otherwise petty squabbles.

Drawing Arms against Each Other
Abu Bakra RA narrates that Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "When two Muslims confront each other with their weapons, (and consequently one is killed) then the murderer and the murdered are both in Hell fire." I asked: "O Rasûlullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam the murderer’s abode (is self-explanatory), but what is the fault of the murdered?" Rasûlullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: "He was equally anxious to murder his Muslim brother."

Impact on Society
The Noble Qur’an states: "He who murders a being, (for reasons other than) retaliation or for spreading corruption and mischief on earth, it would be as if he murdered all of humankind, and if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of all of humankind."

Murder and bloodshed generate imponderable fear, it undermines the sanctity of life, and it sows the seeds of friction, stress, hatred and slander. It undermines the sanctity of life, property and stability. It fuels the flames of vengeance and retaliation. Violence begets violence! It leads to a murky underworld that ultimately impacts on every member of a society.

Animosity
Sporadic incidents of wanton murder and aggressive behaviour are partly due to pride and hatred. Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has said: "BE CAREFUL OF ANIMOSITY, FOR IT (HAS THE PROPENSITY) TO DESTROY."

Bigotry
Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has said: "He who calls towards bigotry is not of us, he who fights because of bigotry is not of us, he who dies for the cause of bigotry is not of us." It does not behoove a Muslim to defend or fight a people, simply because of family ties or ethnic origins. Muslims need to guard against emotional and violent outbursts that arise from blind allegiance to tribal and ancestral origins.

THE HALLMARK OF A BELIEVER IS ABSTINENCE FROM INDULGING IN MAJOR SINS. MURDER IS INCOMPATIBLE TO FAITH AS IS DARKNESS TO LIGHT ONE OF THE DIRECTIVES OF NABI SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WA SALLAM AT THE FAREWELL HAJJ WAS: "REGARD THE LIFE AND PROPERTY OF EVERY MUSLIM TO BE A SACRED TRUST… HURT NO ONE SO THAT NO ONE HURTS YOU. REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL INDEED MEET YOUR LORD, WHO WILL CALL YOU TO ACCOUNT FOR YOUR DEEDS…"

May Allah Ta’aala protect us and our children from the insidious scourge of our very own brothers. Ameen

DUA (PRAYER)
WHEN THE EVIL EYE (NAZR) IS CAST ON ONE’S PET
Read and blow this Dua four times into its right nostril and three times into its left nostril.

“laa basa athhibil bas rabban naas ishfi antash shaafi laa yakshifudh dhurru illaa anta.”

There is no fear. Remove this pain and sickness. O Sustainer of the people! You are the only one who grants cure. None can remove pain and difficulty except Thee.

POISON FOR THE BODY
Two people in the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam came to him. They came to the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in the morning with stomach-aches. They said “Ya Rasulallah, we cannot sleep.” Our stomachs are aching, and you are the best doctor. Give us a cure.

He said, “There is no cure except to vomit what you have eaten.” The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam could have given them some prophetic medicine, but instead he said “No,” because for that kind of sickness there is no medicine-but the only thing you can do is to reject it completely and discard it, because it is poisonous for your system. Your whole system is going to be completely crippled by it-like these two companions who were unable to move.

He said, “You have been backbiting the flesh of your brother and sister.” They said, “Yes, Ya Rasulallah (Messenger of Allah). We spoke badly about the family.” The relationship between those backbiting and the victim of that backbiting was not so good, so they were talking about them. How is it your business to do so? Who are you to speak about them? What is your relationship to interfere in their business?

Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “Reject it from your system.” So they took their fingers and vomited. Raw meat came out. Look at this miracle of Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. He turned this event into a miracle, to give them the physical taste of their actions.

This is not a fictitious story. It is real. The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made it real, to show them that this is a real issue in our life today. They vomited meat-vomiting, vomiting, and vomiting, and then when they were relaxed, Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, “This is not to be repeated.”

RECIPE
TOFFEE SWEETS
Ingredients
½ lb butter – 250g - 1 cup nuts – pecan/almond cut into pieces - 1 cup white sugar - 3 tblsps hot water - 1 ½ tablsps liquid glucose.

Method
Spray non stick pot or AMC pot with spray & cook. Mix liquid glucose with hot water add top pot. Add all ingredients to pot and stir with spoon that has been sprayed with spray & cook. Cook on medium heat till light toffee colour. Quickly pour into baking tray that has also been sprayed. Spread with the bottom of an enamel mug. When cool break into bite size pieces

COOKING TIP
Always powder citric acid crystals before adding to any preserve or murabba, etc. It will blend into the recipe much better and faster.

POEM
This was written by a young girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to crystal meth. She wrote this while in jail. As you will soon read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug, as she tells in this simple, yet profound poem. She was released from jail, but true to her story, the drug owned her.

THE SMILE
