SUNNAH, PRACTISES OF MUHAMMAD SAW
GHUSL (THE BATH) CONT…

Pour water over the head, then over the right shoulder followed by the left shoulder, (to the extent that it reaches the whole body from head to toe). Rub the body with the hands. Pour water a second time in the same manner over the head, then over the right shoulder followed by the left shoulder. (Where there is fear of a particular part of the body remaining dry, rub it with the hands causing the water to reach there.) Thereafter pour water a third time in the same manner from head to toe. THE MESSAGE
When will your heedlessness end?
Khutbah by by Sh Umar as-Subayyil – Imam of Haram
---------------------------------------------------------------
Happiness and success lies in repentance to Allah and steadfastness upon the law of Allah and religion for the entire duration of life. It does not lie in being distracted from working towards the eternal future by the urge to acquire the beauties of this world. This is the way of the righteous and pious people whom Allah describes as that which translates as: “Men whom neither commerce nor sale distracts them from the remembrance of Allah and performance of prayer and giving of Zakah. They fear a Day in which the hearts and eyes will (fearfully) turn about.” (An-Noor: 37).

Righteous people, despite their business and worldly engagements, do not allow that to stand between them and remembrance of Allah’s greatness; a remembrance that makes them constantly fear Him and worship Him as He should be worshipped.

This is how the true believer should be. They should spend their days in performing righteous deeds and seek the abode of the Hereafter with whatever Allah gives them. This is because they know that this life is only a means to achieve the everlasting life and perpetual prosperity. They know this world is not an end in itself but only a finite place in which both the pious and sinful have their daily bread. They know that, however long one may live, they will eventually grow old and die. They also understand this world’s insignificance and know that it is worthless in the sight of Allah and that it is only a bridge which people cross over to reach Paradise or Hell. Allah says that which translates as: “Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children – like the example of a rain whose (resulting) plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes (scattered) debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion?” (Al-Hadeed: 20). read more

DUA/PRAYER
After every meeting

The Messenger of Allah said: "No one sits in a seating place in which he utters much confusion, but then says prior to getting up from that seating place of his: Subhãnaka 'allãhumma wa bihamdika, 'ash-hadu 'allã 'ilãha 'illã 'anta, 'astaghfiruka wa 'atoobu 'ilayka Glorified are You O' my 'ilãh and I am in your praise, I testify that there is no 'ilãh except You, I ask your forgiveness and repent unto You.

THE STORY
Hajar AS finds Zamzam

Ismael AS’s mother went on suckling Ismael and drinking from the water (she had). When the water in the water skin had been used up, she became thirsty and her child also became thirsty, She started looking at him (Ismael) tossing in agony. She left him, for she could not endure looking at him, and found that the mountain of As-Safa was the nearest mountain to her on that land.

She stood on it and started looking at the valley keenly so that she might see somebody, but she could not see anybody. Then she descended for As Safa and when she reached the valley, she tucked up her robe and ran in the valley like a person in distress and trouble till she crossed the valley and reached the mountain of Al Marwa. There she stood and started looking expecting to see somebody, but she could not see anybody. She repeated that running between Safa and Marwa seven times."

The prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "This is the source of the tradition of the Saee (rituals of the hajj, pilgrimage) the going of people between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwa).

When she reached Al Marwa (for the last time) she heard a voice and she asked herself to be quiet and listened attentively. She heard the voice again and said: "O whoever you maybe! You have made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?" And behold! She saw an angel at the place of Zam zam, digging the earth with his heel (or his wing) till water flowed from that place. She started to make something like a basin around it, using her hand in this way, and started filling her water skin with water with her hands and the water was flowing out water she had scooped some of it."

The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam added: "May Allah bestow mercy on Ismael's mother! Had she let the zam-zam flow without trying to control it, or had she not scooped from that water to fill her water skin, Zam zam would have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth."

RECIPE
SUCCULENT GARLIC STEAK
Ingredients

1 Kg tenderised steak - cut into pieces - 1 tsp salt - 1 tsp fine red – chillies - 1/2 tsp ground black pepper - 1/2 cup tomatoe juice - 2 tbsp vinegar - 1/4 cup oil - 4 -5 tbsp mayonnaise - 1 tbl garlic.

Method
Mix all the ingredients together and marinate steak overnight. Place steak in the oven tray and cover with foil. Place in 200 degree preheated oven for 20 min. Turn steak and lower heat to 160 degree. Cover with foil again and bake for a further 20 min. Remove foil and grill for 5- 10 minutes on each side. Brush with ghee and serve with garlic potatoes. Alternate - braai the steak.

COOKING TIP
Rub slices of onion on dosa tawa (griddle) before spreading dosas. This will avoid the dosa from stubbornly sticking to the griddle or tawa.

A THOUGHT
The heart will perish if it is cut off from wisdom and knowledge for three days. The nourishment of the heart, on which its life depends, is knowledge and wisdom, just as the nourishment of the body is food. (Ihyaa)

THE SMILE
A doctor and a lawyer met at a party. Their conversation was interrupted repeatedly by guests asking the doctor for medical advice. Finally, the exasperated doctor turned to the lawyer and said, “Tell me, what do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you're out of the office?”
“When they ask, I give them advice.” replied the lawyer, “and then I send them a bill in the morning.”
The doctor decided to take the lawyer's advice and for the rest of the evening wrote down the names and addresses of everyone who approached him for advice. The next morning he took out the list, just as his secretary walked into his office and handed him a bill from the lawyer.
